What is B.Tech?
B.Tech is a four-year professional engineering degree offered across branches including Computer Science, Electronics, Mechanical, Civil and Electrical. Admission is entrance-driven through JEE Main, state-level examinations or university tests. Computer Science and its allied branches currently attract the largest share of applicants and offer the strongest placement outcomes at most institutions.

- 10+2 with Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics
- Typically 50%-75% aggregate depending on the institution
- Valid JEE Main, state CET or university entrance score
- Age and attempt limits apply to some national examinations

Which B.Tech branch has the best scope?
Computer Science and allied branches such as AI, Data Science and IT currently lead on placement volume and salary. Core branches like Mechanical, Civil and Electrical have narrower entry-level markets but remain strong in the public sector, manufacturing and infrastructure. Branch matters less than the institution's placement record and your own project work.
Can I do B.Tech without JEE?
Yes. Many private and state universities admit through their own entrance tests or on the basis of class 12 marks. JEE Main is required for NITs, IIITs and centrally funded institutions; JEE Advanced for the IITs.
Is a four-year B.Tech worth it over a three-year BCA?
If you have PCM and a workable entrance rank, yes. The extra year buys stronger campus placement access, eligibility for a wider set of PSU and government roles, and better positioning for a master's abroad.
